Built-in soap dispensers: We tell you everything!

Fixed soap dispensers are particularly effective in your kitchen. This room of the house requires simple and functional solutions, because there is always a lot to do in a kitchen, hence the need to be quick and practical.

A soap dispenser that can be operated with one hand, that declutters your sink, that is elegant and that is very easy to clean... these are the advantages of the built-in dispenser.

Love&Soap offers you a varied range of built-in liquid soap dispensers to enhance your kitchen or bathroom space.

    Your products always at hand!

Keep in mind that this device is not limited to dispensing hand soap, although that is its usual purpose. It can be filled with dishwashing liquid, especially if you frequently clean your dishes by hand in the sink. Or, just as easily, a moisturizing lotion that can, with one squeeze, soothe dry hands. It's certainly not necessary, but having one or two built-in dispensers installed is a nice convenience.

Every kitchen needs its detergent, even if you do most of your washing up in the dishwasher, there are always a few pots or pans that need to be washed by hand, so it's good to have some washing up liquid on hand. And it's not just useful for washing dishes, as it's also used regularly to clean the countertop or sink as well as to wash your hands often when preparing meals.

Think about how often you only have one hand free at the sink, and how easily a bottle of dish soap can spill or take up too much space. If the soap dispenser is secured in place , many of these problems simply never arise. A simple squeeze pumps out the soap, and it's also easy to use with wet, slightly slippery hands. It's also great for a disabled person with coordination issues: it doesn't move around, and they don't have to worry about dropping the soap bottle on the floor.

Built-in soap dispensers fit perfectly into the look of your kitchen.

Portable soap dispensers come in a variety of colors and designs, made of plastic and every material imaginable, but an undercounter soap dispenser with a metal pump looks so much cleaner and more professional than a mason jar soap dispenser or a battery-operated plastic soap dispenser.

    Built-in soap dispensers

I t is a good idea to install a fixed soap dispenser if you want to create a coordinated kitchen design and you should choose it carefully. The models are available in a wide variety of colours and shapes. You can opt for something shiny or matte to match your kitchen sink and tap, or rather in a brass or stainless steel version. They form an attractive set when combined with a kitchen mixer tap that resembles them, bringing an extra refinement to the most important space in the kitchen.

    Easily refillable built-in dispensers.

Soap dispensers are easy to fill from the top with your liquid soap of choice. Make sure you have this feature to avoid constantly crawling under the sink to replenish your supply of product.

Depending on the model, the built-in soap dispensers have an average volume of 300 ml or 500 ml, which is sufficient for domestic kitchens.

Love&Soap Tip : With a little ingenuity, an extension hose could be connected to an even larger bottle under the sink.

The ability to easily refill the soap dispenser from the top makes it both convenient and durable in the long run. Note the size of the dispenser opening when the head is removed: the wider the better for easy refilling.

Love&Soap tip : “cut” liquid soap with water to make a 50/50 mix. It ’s easier for the hand pump to dispense a thinner soap. Plus, it’s good for the environment and your wallet.

Dispensers that easily install on most sinks.

They can be installed on most sinks. A stronger construction means more durability. Look for dispensers made from metals like brass and stainless steel rather than all plastic parts. With a light squeeze, the best models will allow you to control the amount of soap dispensed based on how far you push the handle.

    Installing a built-in soap dispenser:

Average installation time is typically less than an hour, with just a few tools.

This is a very easy DIY project, especially if your kitchen sink already has an extra hole. If there is no opening available, or if you want to install multiple dispensers, it is also possible to make another opening in the sink or countertop using tools suitable for the material you need to drill.

    Built-in soap dispensers

Love&Soap gives you some examples of tools suitable for drilling your sink to install your soap dispenser.

    • Stainless steel sink: Use a metal drill bit of the same diameter as your punch for a clean hole and a perfect cut.
    • Resin sink: Use a hole saw drill bit the same diameter as your dispenser
    • Stoneware, ceramic or granite sink: Be careful, this material is fragile when drilling, we do not recommend it unless you have a second location planned next to your mixer tap (look under the sink). In this case, use a center punch and a hammer, hitting it gently to release it, file to blunt the hole.
If you do not want to drill your sinks, you can still drill your worktop to install your built-in soap dispenser and if unfortunately your hole is too big, use either a larger washer or a paste such as Pattex Repair Express to fill the gap.

In this project, however, let's assume that an existing hole is available:

      • Open your kit and inspect the contents: A piston assembly, a rod, an adapter, washers, a wing nut, a soap container, the instructions.
      • Clear the opening on the top of your kitchen sink. Insert the pump fitting through the plate of your countertop or sink with the rubber washer provided to seal the top. If your dispenser did not come with a washer, use plumber's putty. This will ensure that water will not leak out of the top of the sink when the soap dispenser gets wet.
      • Make sure to center the soap dispenser. In many cases, the hole is larger than the soap dispenser housing, giving you room to center it as you wish.
      • Under the sink, screw the mounting nut onto the threads of the soap dispenser and hand tighten it to hold it in place. Before fully tightening, double-check the position of the soap dispenser on the sink top. Use a pair of pliers or a basin wrench to tighten a little more than finger tight.
      • Screw the soap bottle soap dispenser onto the housing under the sink.

You can now fill the soap dispenser by lifting the soap pump directly to remove it and pouring the soap from the top. Remember to manipulate the pump several times so that the air is expelled... This is also valid when returning from vacation. Use a small funnel to help get the soap into the opening, if necessary.

In summary : a refined look that can adapt to all styles, practical to use, saves space on your sink, it requires little cleaning, has limited maintenance, is easy to fill from the top, is durable over time... A built-in liquid soap dispenser is really an interesting option whether for the kitchen or another room in the house.
