Les moules à savon en bois et en silicone, bien mieux que le plastique !

Wooden and silicone soap molds, much better than plastic!

No but it's true! Here we are in 2022, we are all trying to make an effort on our way of consuming, on the management of our waste, and especially the people who practice DIY (and we congratulate them ❤️). And now we should be making our soaps in plastic equipment!

While there are plenty of alternatives.

Regarding soap molds, you will not find any in our store that are made of plastic. Because this does not represent any benefit in making homemade soaps. And we avoid reselling them as much as possible.

On the other hand, you will find here the widest range of silicone soap molds you can dream of. All designs are present. And of course, the traditional wooden soap mold, to do like the pros!

What are the disadvantages of using a plastic soap mold?

You have noticed that we have not told you “what are the advantages and disadvantages” because we do not see any advantages. In any case, none that could not be compensated by another type of mold.

Indeed

  • Plastic soap molds break very quickly
  • SAF soaps are too difficult to unmold, so there is a risk of breakage.
  • If plastic is stored incorrectly (heat, sun) it becomes toxic.

Perhaps one could argue that their bottom is decorated? But silicone molds do that very well too.

So, let's run away and see the other possibilities:

Silicone soap molds

And silicone is not plastic! No, no! It does not contain hydrocarbons, it is not toxic if incinerated, does not become toxic when degraded (be careful, it is not biodegradable). It is more durable than plastic, is inert and holds up very well in high and low temperatures.

Why is the silicone soap mold a great product?

  • It is perfect for cold or hot saponification
  • The unmolding is super easy
  • If the edges are consolidated or very thick, there is no risk of the mold collapsing when filled.
  • It facilitates the gel phase

In the format we offer, the silicone rectangle (with a decorated bottom please!) we tick all the boxes for beginners, who want to test a simple format. Little by little, when we become more experienced, we can also use the rectangle to make more complex soaps with color mixes and marbling.

In this format, the volume of the rectangle is easily calculated, so there is no need to worry about the dosage.

However, you will need to cut the soaps to get the right size, if you don't want to put a whole bar on your sink.

Otherwise, there is also:

The individual silicone soap mold

Very practical, immediately unmolded, immediately shaped. The individual square or the small rectangle format on the same board which makes unmolding easier, are particularly appreciated.

And if you are no longer a beginner, and you are looking for originality, well we have a really extensive catalog with flowery molds, poetic molds, comic molds... Let's be honest, we rarely see such a range of soap molds on the same site!

In any case, it is strongly advised not to use your silicone cake mold to make your soap, unless you do not intend to reuse it for food and you dedicate it exclusively to soap making.

The wooden soap mold

A wooden soap mold lasts a lifetime if used correctly. At Love&Soap we even save you the hassle of lining it because we have opted for a silicone inner mold. This makes cleaning the wooden mold much easier: no soap dough gets stuck, no traces of baking paper on the bar of soap when unmolding...

Be careful though, this silicone mold cannot be used alone, because it is not reinforced enough to contain your preparations. But it is perfect for unmolding.

The advantages of wooden soap mold

  • an accelerated gel phase thanks to the insulating wood (for cold saponification)
  • Undeniable robustness
  • A play area without limits thanks to large formats

We even make cutting easier for you with our model including the spatula knife

Why is wooden soap mold considered professional?

Because you can make up to 15kg of soap. Which is about 8 soaps of 200g.

With time comes the desire to create, in artist mode, mixtures with astonishing colors. In a 48 x 30 cm format, you can handle your spatula like Van Gogh his brush.

To make you on our soap molds:

We recommend that you read the reviews that our customers have left us under each model . They are fully satisfied with the manufacturing material and also with the speed of delivery. And they sometimes provide little tips.
