Keep the kids busy during the holidays with a soap-making workshop!

The holiday season is a special time for family, fun, and tradition. However, the long break from school can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for parents. If you’re looking for a fun and unique way to keep the kids busy during the Christmas holidays , look no further than a soap making workshop!

Not only is soap making a fun activity for kids of all ages, it’s also a great opportunity to teach them about hygiene, science, math, and even art. Plus, at the end of the workshop, everyone will have beautiful handmade soaps to give as gifts (or keep for themselves)! Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

How to make soap with children?

This soap is super easy to make, perfect for beginners and little hands.

What you will need to make soap with kids is listed below:

  • 1 cup liquid castile soap (you can find this at most drugstores or online)
  • 2 tablespoons of glycerin (again, you can find this at most drugstores)
  • 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
  • Soap molds ( special Christmas for example)
  • A pot
  • A bowl
  • A whisk or a spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons.

Optional : food coloring, essential oils, exfoliants like oatmeal or sugar.

A word of advice: absolutely avoid using your cupcake molds to make your soaps. They would no longer be usable for food.

Remember to get a soap mold before the holidays begin!

Now that you have gathered your supplies, it's time to get started!

This can take several days so try to anticipate the manufacturing if you ever want to offer a soap to grandpa and grandma for the holidays.

Remove the soap from the mold. If you chose a loaf soap mold, then you will need a cutting kit .

A second super easy recipe?

What you will need:

  • 1 cup soap flakes
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup glycerin
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Mold (you can also use an empty milk carton, but look at this mold how cute it is 👇🏻)

➡️ First step: boil the water and add the soap flakes.

Stir until the soap flakes are completely dissolved.

➡️ Step 2: Add the glycerin and stir until everything is well combined.

➡️ Step 3: Add food coloring, if desired.

➡️ Step 4: Pour the mixture into your mold and let it sit until it hardens.

Once it has hardened, you can unmold it and enjoy your homemade soap! Here is a creative workshop to keep the children busy during the holidays, perfectly executed.

The DIY soap dish made by the youngest

At Love&Soap we have ideas. Last year, we suggested that the little hands that live under your roof and are desperately busy during the school holidays (and are now very clean 😋) make splendid soap dishes , made of pebbles, wood, stone.

Keep those little hands busy before Christmas!

Hand hygiene and fun guaranteed

Soap making workshops are a great way to keep children busy and entertained during the Christmas holidays.
During a soap making workshop, children discover the different ingredients that go into making soap, as well as the different techniques used.

Fun, simple, amazing!

So, Christmas holidays seem a little less stressful, right?
